Transition Planning

System-Profilersnapz002My name is Wally and I’m thinking about a MacBook Pro. There, I’ve said it and perhaps the healing can begin. Well, not really. I’m sure I’ll continue thinking about it and after the third or fourth really good review, I’ll begin planning in earnest. There’s a really thorough review of the new iMac CoreDuo machine over on MacInTouch but we’re still a month or so away from MacBook Pro’s in the wild.

Thinking about the future, I decided I need to figure out how many Universal (Intel-ready) applications I have and use already. It took me a while to realize that there’s a really fast way to determine that (and monitor the progress of my software transition): Click About This Mac, then More Info…, then scroll down to Software and finally choose Applications. Double click on the column header for Kind and you’ll sort your application list by processor type. The bottom of your list will be all the Universal applications.
